Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Gridware Services LLC, a New Mexico limited liability company and the parent company that operates CheckYoSelf ("Gridware," "CheckYoSelf," "we," "us," or "our"), collects, uses, and shares personal information when you use checkyoself.app (the "Service"). It is written for users in the United States.

1. Categories of Personal Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of personal information (using the categories defined by California and other U.S. state privacy laws):

• Identifiers and contact data — your email address and any name or identifier provided by your sign-in method (for example, Google or Apple).
• Financial information — the bank account numbers, routing numbers, payee details, dates, and amounts you enter to generate checks. Account and routing numbers are treated as Sensitive Personal Information (see Section 3).
• Commercial information — your credit purchases and transaction history.
• Internet and device activity — limited technical and usage data (such as device, browser, and pages viewed) collected automatically to operate and secure the Service.

Sources. We collect this information directly from you, automatically through your use of the Service, and from our service providers — our authentication provider (Clerk) and our payment processor (Stripe). We do not buy personal information from data brokers.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use personal information to operate, maintain, and improve the Service; to generate your checks; to process credit purchases; to authenticate you and secure accounts; to detect and prevent fraud and abuse; to communicate with you about your account; to comply with legal obligations; and for marketing as described in Section 4.

3. Sensitive Personal Information

We collect financial account and routing numbers only to generate the checks you ask us to create. We use and disclose this Sensitive Personal Information solely for that purpose and the related security and legal purposes permitted by law. We do not use it to infer characteristics about you, and we never use or share it for marketing or sell it. It is encrypted at rest (see Section 8).

4. Marketing, Affiliates, and Sharing

We and our parent company, Gridware Services LLC, use your contact information to send you marketing and promotional messages about our products and services. We share your contact information within our corporate family — between the CheckYoSelf product and our parent company, Gridware Services LLC — and with our own direct-marketing partners so they can send you relevant offers.

We do not sell your information to paid data brokers, list brokers, or similar third parties, and we never use or share the financial details you enter (bank account, routing, payee, or check data) for marketing. Sharing your contact information with marketing partners may be treated as a "sale" or "sharing" under some U.S. state privacy laws; you can opt out at any time — see Sections 6 and 7.

5. How We Disclose Information

Besides the marketing sharing described above, we disclose personal information to: service providers and contractors who process it on our behalf under contract (Stripe for payments, Convex for data storage, Clerk for authentication); our affiliates within the Gridware corporate family; legal and safety recipients when required by law or to protect rights and safety; and a successor in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. Service providers are contractually limited to using the information only to perform services for us.

6. Do Not Sell or Share; Global Privacy Control

You have the right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of your personal information for marketing or cross-context behavioral advertising. To opt out, email support@checkyoself.app, or use the unsubscribe link in any marketing message. We also honor opt-out preference signals such as the Global Privacy Control (GPC) sent by your browser, where required.

7. Your State Privacy Rights

Depending on your state of residence (for example California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, Texas, Oregon, and other states with comprehensive privacy laws), you may have the right to:

• know and access the personal information we hold about you;
• correct inaccurate information;
• delete your information;
• obtain a portable copy of your information;
• opt out of sale, sharing, or targeted advertising;
• limit the use of Sensitive Personal Information; and
• not be discriminated against for exercising these rights, and to appeal a denied request.

To exercise these rights, email support@checkyoself.app from the address on your account. We will verify your request and respond within the time required by law. You may use an authorized agent where permitted.

8. Data Security

Sensitive bank data is encrypted at rest using AES-256-GCM with per-record PBKDF2-SHA-512 key derivation. We never store raw payment card details — Stripe handles all card processing — and authentication is handled by Clerk, so we do not store your password. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service, then for any additional period required to meet legal, tax, accounting, or fraud-prevention obligations. When information is no longer needed, we delete or de-identify it.

10. Children’s Privacy

The Service is not directed to children, and you must be at least 18 to use it. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Cookies and Tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies that are necessary to sign you in and keep the Service secure, and limited analytics to understand usage. Where required, we honor browser-based opt-out signals such as the Global Privacy Control.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. We will revise the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, provide additional notice where appropriate.
